Talk: Awakening The Body's Inner Pharmacy
Sat 29th June
2:30 - 6:30
Hamblin Trust Bosham
The ancient medical science of Ayurveda has for over 5000 years stressed that within each and every one of us is an extensive array of potent naturally occurring hormones and chemicals that can radically transform health and wellbeing.
The whole foundation of Ayurvedic medicine is based upon the premise that if we can optimally activate and regulate this naturally occurring hormone and chemicals, then we have at our disposal an immensely powerful resource to prevent disease and illness (whilst allowing for the more effective management of any diseases that are already present). Furthermore, Ayurveda states very clearly that it is through awakening this inner pharmacy that allows for the generation of optimal health and well-being from a physical, emotional and psychological perspective.
To do so, Ayurvedic medicine has a wide variety of time-tested tools and techniques that can effortlessly be integrated into our daily lives to boost wellness. All of these many and varied approaches have one commonality; they all work by tapping into one or more of the five senses (taste, touch, sound, sight and smell).
What is so fascinating is that modern Western science has unequivocally shown this to be true. For example, research abounds to show that self-massage (stimulating the sense of touch) increases immunity thereby reducing our risk of infections. Massage increases the release of oxytocin, the “feel good” hormone that makes us feel vital, energetic and youthful, it also maintains skin tone and thus slows down the ageing process.
Similarly, the research is just as conclusive when it comes to the other senses. Listening to “primordial sounds” – that is sounds that are inherent in nature such as rainfall, crashing waves or birdsong – reduces inflammation, lowers dangerous stress hormones and improves sleep. The list goes on.
During this seminar, you will learn how to awaken your inner pharmacy to allow you to realise a higher state of health and wellbeing by focusing on:
Taste: Learn about the healing properties of food and how to modify your diet to tap into this healing modality
Sight: Learn how using the natural beauty inherent in nature can offer a clinically effective tool to manage stress, increase calmness and invigorate and re-energise us
Touch: Learn why the skin is the most powerful regulator of hormones in the body and how we can tap into this to reduce stress, boost immunity, reduce inflammation and increase energy via a variety of different approaches ranging from self-massage to medicated Ayurvedic oil application.
Smell: Learn how stimulation of the olfactory nerves in the nose via a variety of medicated oils can be used to treat virtually any physical or emotional health concern
Sound: Learn about the vital role of primordial sounds and how to use these to regulate health and wellbeing
