Lavender and Myrrh Soothing Autumn Lip Balm

September 20, 2019

With Autumn rapidly approaching, our lips often take the full brunt of the increasingly cold and windy weather; the familiar chapped, dry and painful lips are only too common.

Rather than buying heavily processed and often toxic lip-balms, why not make your own using the recipe below. This powerful 100% natural herbal lip balm effectively soothes, protects and moisturizes lips via the therapeutically active compounds found in lavender and myrrh. Added to this is the incredibly soothing and moisturising properties of the cocoa and shea butter. It only takes minutes to make and is suitable for the whole family:

Ingredients to make 20g:

  • 2 tsp cocoa butter

  • 2 tsp shea butter

  • 4 drops of pure lavender essential oil

  • 2 drops of pure myrrh essential oil

  1. Melt the cocoa and shea butter in a Pyrex bowl placed over a saucepan of boiling water.

  2. Once melted, pour in the essential oils and stir thoroughly

  3. Pour into small sterilised jar with an air-tight lid.

  4. Leave to cool

  5. Apply liberally to lips as needed.
